John Rex Inder  (M.N.Z.M)

5 April 1935 – 6 February 2026
Passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, in his 91st year.  Much loved husband of the late Gabrielle, father to Catherine, Michael, Richard, Rachel and companion to Puddy.
John lived a life of service and care for others. A gentleman, always kind and generous with his time for others. He loved adventure — whether on the tennis court, cycling, sailing or spending time in the mountains. He was a much-loved father, father-in-law, grandfather and great-grandfather,
cherished by his children, and a valued friend to many.
Forever loved and will be sadly missed.
Thank you to all the wonderful staff at Ashwood Park and Hospice Marlborough, and a very special thank you to Gina. Messages to the Inder family c/- PO Box 9 Blenheim 7240 or www.cloudybayfunerals.co.nz

We would like to send our deepest condolences to all the family. Sue had the privilege of working
with John and he and Gabrielle were very kind to me when I first arrived in NZ.
David played many a game of tennis with John on their lovely court.
We have many happy memories of them both and hope it is the same for you all.

Hi Catherine, Rachael, Michael and Richard no2!!! and families. It was so sad to hear of John's passing. He was a great man and his greatness covered so many areas. He was also my godfather and I always felt a very special connection, especially so in our later years. We had a very common bond with our grass tennis courts and whenever there was a catch up we talked about the surface, weed control, fertilisers and grass types ... all very interesting for other non court owners!!! There was also considerable banter about each other's prowess on the court, forgetting there was 20 year age difference!!! John and Gabrielle introduced me to skiing when I was 15 up at Porters Height. I hated it ...dressed in jeans, thin socks, no real jacket and by midday I was freezing, wet and back in the car!! A few years later I got back into it and still enjoy a day on the slopes ... drier and warmer these days !! It was so special to join you all for John's 90th celebrations last year. A chance to honour his career, his zest for life and adventures and the wonderful legacy he left. I know you will all miss this wonderful man and will all have very special memories ... very very special memories.

Oscar and I will always recall skiing with John in Myoko Kogen, Japan. It was so much fun. We were amazed by his style, his elegance on the snow. Not to mention we were actually skiing with a man in his 80s! It was inspiring. We will always remember those times. Go well John, we know you will be missed. Oscar & Dennis

To the Family of the late John Inder.
Back in the 70s I had the privilege of working in the same Ward as Mr Inder, he was a true Gentleman & had the most amazing bedside manner with his patients. A great man who will be sorely missed by all that knew him. Rip John💐💐
