To Gerald’s family – especially Judy, Rachael, Jayden, Riley and Gillian
Even though we’re far away—across countries and time zones—we really wish we could be there with you today.
We’d love nothing more than to stand beside our dear friend Rachael and honour her dad, Gerald.
Rach, while I didn’t have the chance to meet your dad, I know Julie briefly did when she visited New Zealand in the early 2000s, and we feel like we’ve both gotten to know him so well through you. In your kindness, your incredible sense of humour, your strength—he’s there. We know how much you loved and looked up to him, and how big a role
he played in your life. That kind of connection doesn’t just fade. It stays—in your memories,
in the things he taught you, and in who you are.
It’s really tough not being there right now. We wish we could sit with you and give whatever comfort
we could during such a hard time.
But please know—just because we’re not physically there doesn’t mean we’re not with you in spirit. We’re thinking of you, Rach, and your whole family, and holding you close in our hearts.
We’re sending you all our love and strength.
May Gerald rest peacefully, and may his memory continue to bring you comfort in the days ahead.
With love,
Julie and Claire
xxooxx
