To all who know and care for Garry. I’d like to extend my warmest hugs to you. I’m very sorry for your loss.
Garry was a good friend to me in my younger troubled youth years from around 1994 to 1999 when I was 13-19 years old. We would go fishing off the wharf in Picton, Waikawa bay and various other places.
He would take me swimming in the Wairau river and at Spring Creek. We would go and visit his friend Paul in Havelock. He taught me to play the guitar and we would jam at my Mum (Anna Harper) and Dads (Stuart Harper) house often.
I now have his 1977 Musicman guitar that I cherish so very much. He was a brilliant musician. He helped teach me to drive a car and we would go on adventures in my Ute and his cool Bedford van.
We had years of good fun times together he was very dear to me. He helped teach me the value of hard work.
He had a turbo charged powerful car at one stage and would let me drive it with him in it. It was a rocket ship haha.
I’m so blessed to have known you Garry. Im sure I’ll see him in heaven. To whom reads this I have several photos of Garry of when he was in his 40’s that I took. If you’d like to see them please contact me and I’ll send copies to you.
Garry might be gone but for me he will never be forgotten.
Lots of love to Jenny, his son I never met and his friends and family.

I knew Garry through his participation with Dr Bob Blake and Horizon Trust.
He used to come twice a week on Tuesday and Friday afternons to practice the songs for the Logos Trust
show that he was a part of in the 2000s. I was doing Administration for the Horizon Trust at the time
which was situated in Scott Street where Wild South is now in town. I used to sit there and really enjoy his music.
I don't know his family but I would like to extend my sympathy and condolences to them all.
Garry was a lovely person who I will miss not seeing him in New World like I did occasionally and talked to.
R.I.P. Garry, my ilfe was better for knowing you even if it was for a liitle while.
