Ann Marie McNicholl
(16/03/1954 - 11/04/2026)
Born in Timaru in 1954. Much-loved daughter of the late Noel and Dolcie. Devoted mother to Stuart, Scott, and the late Annella, and proud Nan to Mia, Matai, Maisy, Breeze, Grayson, Cade, Izzak, and Levi.
Ann was a dedicated teacher who spent many years supporting people with special needs.
She had a lifelong love of the outdoors and adventure, from travelling New Zealand in her youth to tramping the South Island with her children—memories that will be forever cherished.
Ann faced significant loss throughout her life with a quiet strength and resilience, yet always maintained a positive outlook. She found joy in travel, kapa haka, and rowing, achieving success in competitions across New Zealand and Australia.
Loved and respected by many as a mother, Nan, teacher, mentor, and friend.

It is with sadness we hear of your mums passing. We met so long ago when she first came to Blenheim and we were both fresh teachers of kids with disabilities. Through sadness and joy we intersected paths as kids grew up. I enjoyed your mums gentle smile and laugh and her ability to keep a positive outlook. I am sorry that that light could not have lasted longer as she showed a lot of us what courage looked like. My kind wishes and thoughts go to you her family.
Both Liz and I are sorry we can’t be there in person to say our goodbyes.

To all Ann's family, I am so sorry to hear of her passing.
She was so kind to my son Levi when his father passed away when he was at primary school
She had worked with Levi since he was 4 years old until he left school at 21
They spent a lot of time talking about John and Annella when he was sad.
She exposed him to so many new adventures and he really loved her.
She was a real light in the community and brought joy to so many people's lives.
Sent with love

got to catch up with Scott and family, I will cherish that time.
Fly high with the angels, you will be missed.

We were so sorry and saddened to hear of Ann’s passing. I remember so well, how patient and kind she was with all the students at MBC but particularly the boys in Learning Support. She will be missed terribly by her children and grandchildren; a massive hole left in a family. Thoughts and condolences are with you all.
